Whats the best way to cover up dark circles ? Like what color concealer or technique ?
To cover up dark under eye circles it’s best to use two popular methods
- Color Correcting
- Triangle Method
To color correct the under eyes which are usually purple/blue you want to use a salmon, pinky/peach corrector under the eyes. This will prevent layering on a bunch of concealer trying to cover up the dark circles. You want to use a corrector shade under your concealer or on it’s own if the orange/peach tint isnt that strong. Using a peachy shade is the opposite of blue/purple on the color wheel so when used together it creates a neutral shade, yes makeup is an art! lol
You can even use an orange based concealer like the NYX Concealer in a Jar in Orange ($5) or something yellow like Maybelline Stick Concealer in Yellow ($5). Look for any concealer that leans a little more peach or pink.
The Bobbi Brown Corrector, which comes in a few shades, has a peachy/salmon tint to it making it great for blue/purple under eye bags. Benefit Erase Paste is also a great salmon toned concealer.
The triangle method is a way of applying concealer so it brightens and lifts the face. Try using a concealer a shade or two lighter than your skin tone in a triangle under your eyes. When using a concealer lighter than your skin tone you want to bring it down a little further than normal so it doesn’t look oddly light directly under your eyes, you want a gradient transition from light to dark.
